Desperate Crowds Rush Gaza Aid Trucks, Says WFP

Gaza

The World Food Programme (WFP) has reported increasingly chaotic scenes in Gaza, where desperate civilians are overwhelming aid trucks in a bid to secure life-saving supplies. The agency warns that the situation is becoming untenable as hunger and desperation mount.

According to the WFP, trucks carrying food and humanitarian aid are being swarmed by starving residents as soon as they enter Gaza. In many cases, people are climbing aboard moving vehicles, tearing into supplies before distribution can begin.

The humanitarian needs in Gaza are unimaginable,” said WFP spokesperson Abeer Etefa. “People are so desperate they are risking their lives just to grab a bag of flour or a can of beans.”

The WFP has highlighted not only the lack of sufficient aid but also the ongoing obstacles in distributing it effectively. Constant bombardments, limited border access, and poor infrastructure are complicating efforts to reach the most affected areas.

Etefa emphasized that without a sustained ceasefire and guaranteed safe humanitarian access, the aid alone will not be enough to prevent famine in the region.

The United Nations and several humanitarian organizations are calling for increased global support and pressure to ensure secure and unhindered aid deliveries. The WFP says its current resources are stretched thin, and more international funding is urgently needed.

Local residents describe a grim reality. “We wait all day for a truck that may never come,” said Hani, a father of five from northern Gaza. “When it does, people fight, push, scream — it’s survival. This isn’t life anymore.”

As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza spirals further out of control, organizations like the WFP continue to urge immediate action. Without stable access, security guarantees, and sustained international support, the region faces the real threat of mass starvation.
