Microsoft Bing Joins the AI Video Race with Sora Launch

On June 3, 2025, Microsoft announced the launch of Bing Video Creator, a new feature integrated into its Bing mobile app for iOS and Android. This tool leverages OpenAI’s Sora, a text-to-video model, allowing users to generate short, five-second videos from text prompts at no cost.

Key Features:

  • Free Access: Users can create up to 10 videos for free. Subsequent videos can be generated by redeeming 100 Microsoft Rewards points per video.
  • Video Specifications: Currently, videos are generated in a vertical 9:16 format, ideal for platforms like TikTok and Instagram. A horizontal 16:9 format is expected to be available soon.
  • Generation Speeds: Two modes are available—Standard (free with longer wait times) and Fast (quicker generation using rewards points).
  • Storage: Generated videos are stored for 90 days, after which they are deleted. Users are encouraged to download their creations within this period.

How to Use:

  1. Download the Bing mobile app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account.
  3. Access the Video Creator by tapping the menu in the bottom right corner and selecting “Video Creator.”
  4. Enter a descriptive text prompt to generate your video.
  5. Choose between Standard or Fast generation modes.
  6. Download or share your video once it’s ready.

Microsoft’s Vision:

By integrating Sora into Bing, Microsoft aims to democratize AI video creation, making it accessible to a broader audience. This move positions Bing as a competitive platform in the AI-driven content creation space, rivaling offerings from companies like Google and Meta.
